Travels// Pretty Things

If you find yourself in Christchurch, take a walk around the botanic gardens, one of the city's big gems. The garden has a range of different flowers that change variety throughout spring, summer and winter months, meaning no matter which time of year you visit, there's always something to see. These photos were taken in the Spring leading into the summer months, so some of the flowers were being replanted for the upcoming summer.

I hope these photos give you a little taste of how beautiful these gardens were!!

Travels // Up In The Sky

Even though I was only able to stop by in Christchurch for a small amount of time, it's a city that I'm pleased I seen. Devastated by numerous earthquakes since 2010, it's clear this beautiful city is still on the path to rebuilding itself. Some of the houses still lie abandoned, and there was a lot of rebuilding work happening throughout the city during my stay. Christchurch is not known to be the liveliest of cities, and personally speaking a couple of days stay is just the right amount of time to see most things.

What I would suggest and perhaps was a high light of my stay is to take a ride on the gondola, taking you to the top of Port Hills, nearly 500 metres above sea level. Trust me, you get some amazing views up there!

Style File // City Living

Spring is finally just starting here in Newcastle, I love this time of year, the lighter nights and warmer weather (just!) make it the perfect time for exploring the city. A light knit jumper is perfect for this time of year, I mixed this sheer River Island knit with my favourite pair of ripped Pull and Bear jeans for a casual down town look. If you would like to know where I got the rest of the outfit from, check out the details at bottom of the post!

Checklist // Holiday Essentials

When going on holiday it can be a nightmare trying to figure out what to pack (I'm a well known over-packer!) so this week's shopping list is based on holiday essentials, some key items that would be perfect for that summer vacation, whether your just going away for a couple of days or a couple of weeks.

Trend Report // Splash of Colour

For today's trend report I've been looking at fashion inspired by art, in particular abstract art. Some of the abstract patterns, especially from designers such as Jil Sander, remind me of one of my favorite artists Jackson Pollock. (you can find an example of his work on the collage above!) I will definitely be trying this look for summer...I'm kind of in love with the Zara trousers!! Try just wearing one statement piece for an eye catching look, or if your feeling a bit bolder, try mixing some patterns together for a stand out summer look.

1. Paint Animal Shirt/£35.00 Topshop
2. Panel Clutch/ £15.99 Newlook
3. Trousers/ £29.99 Zara
4. Animal Bandeau Dress/ £22.00 River Island

Wishlist // New Buys

I never usually shop in the sales but I've found some little gems in the Zara sale recently. I'm constantly updating my look...and my wardrobe! and I'm always looking out for some new key pieces that I can wear over and over again with different outfits. I'm not a designer whore and all my clothes come from the
high street....after all...the high street offers some great styles at affordable prices so why not make the most of it?

I know it's not even the end of summer yet...but I couldn't resist buying these bargain wedge trainers from the Zara sale in preparation for Winter, comfortable and stylish they can be worn with everything from worn denim jeans to shorts and skirts.
